Gabriela Valdez - Reflection Blog - American vs World Perspectives

Image
When I first picked the topic of American vs. World Perspectives for my project, I honestly didn’t realize how much it would challenge me. At first, it sounded straightforward: compare how Americans see things versus how people in other countries see them. Easy, right? But once I started digging in, I realized it was way more complicated than that. America isn’t just one perspective, and “the world” definitely isn’t either. Still, working through those complexities ended up being one of the most eye opening experiences I’ve had in college so far. Preparing my slides, I wanted to highlight the American perspective as it’s often portrayed: capitalism and free markets as the path to opportunity, the “American Dream” of hard work leading to success, and a strong emphasis on national defense and border security. What struck me was how environmental safety sometimes gets pushed to the side in favor of economic or political interests. For example, the U.S. economy is often discussed in terms ...

Juan Morera - Blog Post 2 : Balancing Human Safety, Environment, and Economy - Reflection

Blog Reflection #2 - Juan Morera -  November 10th, 2025 This posts main focus is our group's speech presentation for October 15th, we we're tasked with a group project that challenged us, it told us to explore the relationship between the economy and the environment. A topic that felt both important and very relevant to our lives in South Florida. These real world issues present themselves everywhere on a daily basis, we knew this wasn’t just an academic exercise. It was a chance to understand the systems around us and imagine how they could work better, and how we could make and develop potential new systems to assist against the disasters of environmental and economical issues, for people and the planet. What unfolded over the course of a couple weeks was a dynamic and ultimately rewarding collaboration. We learned how to research, create, and present complex ideas. We wrestled with conflicting viewpoints, time management, and leaned into each other’s strengths. And by the e...

Juan Morera - Blog 1 : Path to a Successful Speech

There’s something uniquely powerful about standing in front of an audience and sharing a message you believe in. When someone speaks to connect, inspire, and lead people. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak for myself in a group speech presentation that brought together weeks of preparation and collaboration. The experience doesn't need to just be seen as an academic assignment, because it was a reminder of how fun and fulfilling public speaking can be when you’re really invested. When I met my group, we connected pretty well. We each brought different strengths to the table, and instead of trying to divide the work evenly in a rigid way, we leaned into what each person naturally did best. I’m a visual learner and love working with clean, clear layouts. One of my teammates had a real talent for storytelling, she could take a dry concept like “rehearsal” and turn it into a vivid, relatable moment. Gaitina was great at research and pulled together examples from TED Talks and co...

Valentina Daugherty - Assignment # 2 - Reflection - Discovering Connections Between Economy, Environment, and Human Safety: A Reflection by Valentina Daugherty

Discovering Connections Between Economy, Environment, and Human Safety: A Reflection by Valentina Daugherty As our group was preparing to present the People Matter project, I was excited and slightly intimidated. "People Matter" seemed like such a simple title, but the more I thought about it, the complexities of our topics and relational aspects made more sense. Each group member reflected on a different aspect of well-being such as environmental safety, economic stability, and a global lens of well-being. My focus was on The Economy and Cost of Living, and through this, I came to understand economics was more than numbers on a page and graphs on a chart. Economic data is the daily lives of individuals, their health, and sense of stability. Understanding the Topic: The Human Side of Economics Before starting this research, I thought economics was about market trends, inflation rates, and government spending. As I read and discussed articles with my group, I began to see econ...

Jenise Castillo-Reflection Blog-Environmental Challenges and Their Impact on Human Health and Safety

Environmental Challenges and Their Impact on  Human Health and Safety Thinking about our Zoom presentation I still remember how nervous and curious I was when I logged into the Zoom meeting for our group presentation. We weren't really standing in front of the class, but it felt just as intense to present over Zoom. We had spent a lot of time getting ready, but I still had that nervous feeling in my stomach that comes right before you speak. I kept telling myself that I knew my part well and that we were all ready. Setting the Mood Santana began the presentation, and hearing his voice over Zoom made me feel a little better right away. His introduction was steady and clear, and it got everyone interested in the subject. He made it seem like he was talking to each person even though they were on a screen. As he spoke, I felt the energy change. It was that moment when you realize that we're really doing this. My Turn, Health of the Environment I took a deep breath, turned off my m...

🌿 Reflection on Class Presentations: Healthcare, Families, and the Environment When I first saw the list of presentation topics for our class, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The themes—healthcare, families, and environmental and economic issues—all felt connected in some ways, but I didn’t realize just how much overlap there really was until everyone started presenting. Watching each group share their research, stories, and perspectives made me see how the things we often treat as separate—like health, money, and the environment—are actually deeply intertwined. By the end of all the presentations, I found myself thinking not only about what I learned but also how much I genuinely enjoyed seeing everyone’s effort come to life.                                              💉 Healthcare and Families: The Human Side The presentations on healthcare and families hit me ...
